Video Transfer Services

We can transfer your home movies to DVD for a more lasting and higher quality playback experience. Unlike most service providers, our pricing is low: just $10 per tape (2 hour maximum). The reason we can offer video transfer services at such budget rates is that we focus on the basics rather than a lot of frills.
We know how it is: you have boxes and boxes of videotapes in your basement, garage, attic, and scattered around the house. Years and years of video tapes which are hard to store and are degrading over time. Wouldn't it be great to transfer all those tapes onto DVD where they can be easily stored, cataloged, and enjoyed for years to come? Of course it would.

What you don't need, though, are fancy "authoring" bells and whistles which take a lot more labor. That's great if you're making a specialty DVD such as a wedding video, or videos for retail sale, but most of us just don't need that.

Here's what you get from us for only $10 per tape:

  • A high quality video transfer onto a DVD-R disk.
  • Automatic chapter marks approximately every 6 minutes.
  • A disk title printed on the surface of the disk.
  • A "thumbnail" menu button for each tape copied on the DVD.

We can copy as many tapes onto a DVD as you wish, up to two hours. For example, four 30 minute VHS-C tapes would fit on one DVD, and each tape would have a thumbnail menu entry on the DVD menu.

Additional DVD copies are available for only $7.50, so you can order a set for the grandparents or one to pass on to each of your children. Check here for a full menu of disk duplication prices.

Limitations:

In order to maintain our budget prices, we have certain limitations to our service. Tape formats which are accepted include VHS, VHS-C, and Mini-DV. We produce DVD-R disks only. No copyrighted materials (such as commercial movies) can be duplicated. The on-screen menus are automated and therefore "fixed" in appearance. (They aren't fancy, but they get the job done. When it comes to home video archiving, that's what most of us need.) Each tape appears on the DVD menu with a thumbnail picture and a default title (time/date of the transfer). Custom  names for these thumbnails may be added for $1 each. Your DVD-R disk may not play back on all DVD players. While DVD-R is the most common format and works on every DVD player and computer we have tested, there may be compatibility issues with older DVD players. Check with your manufacturer to be sure your equipment will accept DVD-R.

How to order:  Because your tapes are not replaceable (at least, not until you have them archived onto DVD), we suggest you bring your tapes in to our store (click here for directions). However, if you are from outside our local area, you may ship your tapes to us for processing and we will return them by UPS ground at regular UPS rates. Although we will pack your tapes with care, we cannot be held responsible for damage or loss which occurs during shipment.
